What: Career development and science communication are critical to preparing students for success in STEM. CAMBIUM and the Lovejoy Center have developed a professional development series aimed at identifying resources on the University of Arizona campus to support graduate students on the academic journey, communicate complex research effectively, and position them for successful careers leveraging the skills and knowledge they build in their graduate education.

Takeaways from the September 10, 2025 session

• Tools like the Career & Professional Roadmaps are useful to consider what professional development opportunities you have been completing without realizing, and which activities might be useful to tackle next to launch you into a great career.
• Tools like myIDP are useful to expand your career horizons, (re)consider career possibilities you had discarded out of hand, and provide a reflection moment on your skills, values, and interests.
• Science policy is something we're all interested in, but don't know that much about... Let's keep our eyes open and report back on what science policy is, who does it, and how it all works.
